BESIDE YOU - written by Tom Lee-Richards:
Fostering Dystopian Togetherness -
'Beside You' is one of the most direct song I have written. It's about how we choose to communicate with the people in our lives romantically or otherwise - how connections can evolve. The Dystopian future world of the Beside You music video highlights those themes in a really interesting way: bit.ly/2tn82H2
The song aims to simplify the way we want to be seen by each other. The cyclic grooves and continual peeling of instrumental layers aim to reinforce this process of distillation. How's that?
lyrics
V1:
How are you?
Busy yet can I sit down? down.
Eyes are lit, disarming yet hard to put down, down.
Open wit, charming yeah I could come round.
Not the same, but straight to the heart of it found.
All I knew, all I knew.
Chorus:
Beside you is that wonderful, open - the side you would like to be known for.
Can you come over, bring all of your fears and we can just try to be here, now.
V2:
How could you stop me from taking you down?
Did it to get at me now that we've found
We're not the same, not the same.
Chorus:
Beside you is that wonderful, open - the side you would like to be known for.
Can you come over, bring all of your fears and we can just try to be here, now.
Bridge:
All that I can drop, all that I think it's not
The only place we haven't tried is here.
V3:
How are you?
Busy yeah can I sit down? down.
We're not the same, but straight to the heart of it pound.
All we do
Both with two.
Chorus:
Beside you is that wonderful, open - the side you would like to be known for
Can you come over, bring all of your fears and we can just try to be here, now.
